Harp Seal
Morphology
They have a relatively small, broad, flat head, and a narrow snout. Adults are approximately 5-6 ft long, and weigh around 300 lbs. They have light gray fur, with a black face and a horseshoe-shaped black saddle on their back. distribution map |
Biology
They eat a variety of fish and invertebrates, but mainly focus on smaller fish such as arctic and polar cod, and invertebrates including krill. |

Ecological
The Harp Seal is important to our ecosystem because if the harp seals were to die then the fish and other smaller sea animals would overpopulate. |
Economical
There is not much economical importance of a harp seal. |
